New shelf project! | Personal

I drove by the dumpster down the street a few weeks ago and saw one of those cubbyhole shelves sitting beside it. Upon close inspection, it was pretty shabby looking, but I had been looking for something like this and decided to see what I could do with it. My awesome husband hauled it back to our apartment where it sat for a couple of weeks until yesterday when I decided to finally make something of it!

Of course, I forgot a before picture...but a sanding block, two cans of spray paint, 3 baskets and a lamp on clearance at Target later, and I could not be more happy with the result!

When we were at Home Depot, I asked Josh what he thought about possible colors to use. He mistook me as actually asking which one he thought we should get rather than the fact that I just wanted him to agree on what I wanted ;) The blue was his choice and such a good one! I was so worried that it would be too bright...but I think it adds a nice pop of color in the corner of the living room and the worn look around the edges makes it a good fit with the rest of the decor. . .

Ralphie is 1 | Rock Hill Children's Photography

I remember so clearly the day that Ralphie was born. It was a cold, rainy day in Ohio and Josh and I were at the Martin Center sampling food for the wedding when Daniel called. They were on the way to the hospital and from the looks of it, their sweet baby would be here soon.
When Daniel called later that night to tell us the baby had been born, he didn't tell us if it was a boy or a girl- and Josh didn't think to ask!
The suspense was terrible. I just had to know. So I texted Ashlee, hoping that she wasn't too tired to respond. She wasn't, and within a few minutes told us that their little one was a boy and that they had named him Ralph "Ralphie" after his grandpa. Josh and I were both so excited for our dearest friends!

I can hardly believe it's been over a year now since that day. It is a delight to live so close to Daniel and Ashlee and to get to see our little "nephew" so often. He is such a happy little guy!

Every little detail of his party was perfect. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and Ralphie's mommy had planned everything out just wonderfully.

The best part was that not only was the Peter Rabbit themed afternoon adorable, it was also delicious!

This little man just makes me melt. He was especially sweet and happy on his birthday!

He was even willing to share his cake!

He shares his daddy's love of reading ;)
Ralphie, you are one blessed kiddo.
