Home Finds / Salvaging My Roses

Since Josh is transitioning from bachelor life to being a married man, and I'm moving out of my family's home, we made a list of the different things we needed to furnish our new home.

Josh has a couch, we both have desks, we've got one dresser between the two of us (can you believe he doesn't have a dresser???), and a few other odds and ends, so we were able to check those off. But on our lists of things we need are things like a kitchen table, chairs for the living room, end tables, a bedroom set, etc.

The weekend before we got engaged, I was garage sale-ing with my mom and aunt. I found this beautiful oversized leather chair at one of the sales and was able to get it for a VERY reasonable price. It's so comfy, and I've already gotten offers on it from guests in our home. It's currently being used in our living room and I have to continually remind my family that it will be going with me when I move! :D

Last week, we were able to get ahold of a cute little kitchen table off of craigslist! I just love it and am SO excited about the colors. It's not drab or dreary, but rather it's fresh and bright and just the kind of thing I'd envisioned for my kitchen! I was so thankful that Josh was able to go take a look at it and arrange to have it delivered to his apartment.

We've still got aways to go on our list, but I'm so thankful to have found these things!

Josh got me a beautiful bouquet of roses for my 19th birthday. I loved them, and tried my best to dry them so I could keep them longer. But unfortunately, they didn't like that idea so much and ended up droopy and pathetic looking. As a last ditch effort, I decided to try and pull apart the petals and put them in a bowl. Rose petals are kind of like rice---the pile just kept growing! The bowl I had just wasn't cutting it, and I was about to give up. Then I remembered the cute glass bottles I'd picked up on closeout at Marc's the other day. I'd originally envisioned actually using them for liquids, but I liked this idea much more and can always pick up more bottles elsewhere. They're just perfect and will be a nice touch in my kitchen or one of the bathrooms/bedrooms :D Plus, I get to hang onto the first birthday roses that I ever got from my amazing husband-to-be!!!!

Engagement Pictures!!!

Last weekend, Rachel (over here at photographieisfeliciteblog.com) shot our "official" engagement pictures! These are the ones without all the sweat and tears ;)

This first set of pictures was taken in the square in Hudson, not far from where we'll be getting married in June!

I just love my ring :D

OH! And I love HIM too!!!! SOOOO much!

We wanted to take some pictures in this awesome corridor by the library...and it was perfect for dancing because there was music playing!!!!

After spending part of the afternoon in Hudson, we headed back to my house to take pictures in the backyard!

This picture is one of my favorites!

I love this picture. I have no idea what Josh is really doing, but he looks like he's singing opera ;) Regardless, he's making me laugh, as usual :D

She told us to look serious.

That didn't last long ;)

Then we did the homeschool dance ;D

Well, there you have it! Many thanks to Rachel! I love how she really captured our personalities in these pictures!!!!

**225 days until I become Mrs. Joshua Grimm!!!!
